About CardStax

Hey, I'm Shawn.

I’m a dad of three girls, lifelong collector, and a diehard San Francisco Giants fan. Like a lot of people, I found my way back into the hobby because of my kids. What started as ripping packs together and chasing fun quickly turned into something bigger. Before I knew it, I was fully back in, collecting, sorting, building, and honestly feeling like a kid again.

Collecting has always been deeper than just value for me. It’s nostalgia. It’s memories. It’s connection. I’ve been a Giants fan my whole life. I’ve got a brick at Oracle Park, went to the final game at Candlestick Park, and even own seats from that stadium. That kind of stuff means something to me. That’s what collecting is. It’s holding onto moments, stories, and pieces of your life.

When I got back into cards and started vending at shows, I realized pretty fast I didn’t love what was out there for display. Big bulky plexi cases, binders sliding all over the place, cards tucked away where nobody could really see them, and honestly, stuff that felt easy to walk off with.

It just didn’t feel right. To me, cards are artwork.

Not every card has to be a monster hit or worth thousands. Sometimes it’s your favorite player, your childhood hero, or just a card that takes you back. That stuff matters too. I wanted a better way to actually see my collection, interact with it, and enjoy it without digging through boxes or flipping through giant binders.

So I started to build FlipDeck and reached out to a friend to help with design and prototyping and he has all the manufacturing toys too. At first, it was just me solving my own problem. But the more people saw it, the more I realized I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. That’s really how CardStax started.

My goal with CardStax is simple. Build cool stuff for collectors. Make the hobby more fun. Make collections easier to display, easier to browse, and easier to enjoy.

Because at the end of the day, cards shouldn’t just be stored. Cards should be experienced.
